15 Million Facebook accounts available FOR SALE
We all like to boast about the number of friends we have made on facebook whenever we sit with our friends in real world over a cup of coffee or tea. This attribute of your facebook account that is the larger number of friends makes it attractive to a hacker named Kirllos who is believed to be residing in New Zealand some rumors base him in Russia. But the Bottom-line is he is trying to sell One and a half million Facebook accounts. Reports tell (via allfacebook.com) that he has already sold over 700,000 accounts.
This remind me about the story posted by @zazo few months back “cheap market inside socialnetwork”
Well, let’s get back to Kirllos. His most favorite accounts are the ones having larger number of friends.
This hacker has put on a very unique kind of sell over the internet. And it is being said that this is the consequence of recent phishing scams.
Kirllos is tracked down by a Verisign internet security group known as iDefense.
Two Facts discovered by this happening are
1. The huge number of accounts on social networking site. It seems that almost every person on face of this earth can be found on facebook.
2. East European hacker working on western site.
Well I see the simple connection in both. Facebook is such a popular and famous socialnetwork that it attracts all, no matter whether they are noble netizens or outlaw hackers.
I was wondering how this hacker is going to price tag the accounts. His system of pricing is again very interesting; he sells them like a wholesale vendor. $25 for 1000 accounts has friends less then 10 each and $45 for 1000 accounts is having friends more than 10 each.
Now the question is who will be buying these accounts? The answer is very serious in nature. Information gained from these accounts can be used to make fraudulent accounts and identities which in turn could be helpful in creating bank accounts which may be utilized in funding international terror. May be some innocent boy’s details may be used to provide money for another 26/11 or Metro blasts.
Another potential danger is that the facebook is used by people in workplaces also on their organizational networks. This makes it easy for hacker to enter into corporate offices, steal their information and start another sale with new prices.
What I found amusing is that thief is always a step ahead of the law enforcement. If iDefense knows so much about him then why don’t they grab him?
