Recently, Facebook has made small changes.

1. Facebook has changed Fan Pages to Community Pages.
2. Connected the Interests and Likes of People to Pages

Fan Pages to Community Pages

In order to differentiate between the pages/ communities or groups created by fans of a topic to the official pages managed by authorized people this step has been taken.

In simple language people connected with some businesses, organizations, person or websites will only be allowed to create the Community pages and fans may join them and can contribute to the information in wikipedia style.

Thus ownership will remain with genuine people hence filtering the information being displayed. Other fans can create a group.

With this a small change , “become a fan” button is replaced with “Like” button.

The general facebook users are disappointed with it and some consider it the violation of right of free speech on internet. While some say that they just don’t want to be likers they want to become fans.

Connected The Interests and Likes of People to Pages

Face book people tried to connect the like and preferences of people to related pages so that users can connect to necessary information about their preferences just by clicking on their likes.

For example if you live in London then you can be linked to all the facebook pages of London. Of course users can opt to be linked or not to be linked.

This may create havoc if you don’t want to reveal your privacy. Facebook allows you to keep some pages private with its option of privacy settings.

This feature is facing the maximum rage and anger. Users find their profile to be a collection of links, plus afraid of employers and recruiters knowing all major and minor details which may or may not bring favorable consequences.

Some users are finding it a very complex task to add, remove and manage the visibility.

People are shouting to facebook designers for consulting them before making changes.

The Changes which were supposed to help individuals are now itself crying out for help.

There is a management term “Resistance to Change” meaning new changes face resistance initially but may be accepted over the time.
