Germany Tight on Security or Politics on Google?

Posted by : on April 30, 2010 – 3:07 amOne Comment

Google’s plan to offer the 360-degree view of world will be incomplete as German authorities deny the permission of capturing the street images. It was found to violate the German privacy law.

Google was planning to provide 360-degree photo archive of German streets. Earlier Google was asked to pixilated faces of people and license plates of vehicles along with few requests of properties to be removed from Google’s display.

This time the cause of trouble is photography of WLAN Routers. Google intended to catch them as this information will be useful for telecom operators. But this explanation was indigestible to Germany’s federal data protection administrator, Peter Schaar he ordered data capturing to be stopped immediately. German officials said that Google did not mentioned that they will be interested in WLAN network details and this makes German Officials feel misled.

To solve this issue Mr. Caspar, who is leading the German government’s discussions with Google will inspect the Vehicle carrying cameras and other equipment next week and will try to find out the truth. If Google is found to violate any law suitable fines and penalties will be levied upon.

Students and Business community of Germany welcome the Google’s move of capturing data and believe that some Politicians are trying to cash the Popularity of Google’s name and fame.
