Optimized Google Apps for iPad

Posted by : on April 2, 2010 – 11:51 pm5 Comments

Google has recently announced the launch of its iPad optimized Gmail App on the official Google Mobile Blog. The optimized version is an experimental user interface for the iPad built on the Gmail for mobile HTML5 web app that was launched last year for the iPhone and Android devices. The new feature is activated automatically when you visit gmail.com from your iPad. It has a sleek two pane view. The left pane holds your list of conversations and your messages are aggregated to the right.

Several Google apps would be shipped pre-installed with the iPad. With the YouTube app for iPad you could watch HD videos and read and write comments. Also, the new Maps app on iPad would help you find right directions and places. Originally designed for iPhone, Google apps have been optimized for iPad and are to get even better in near future.

You might sometimes find the desktop user interface and other times you might see the mobile interface. This has been done to serve the interface that works best.

Google also plans to launch some apps for tablet computers. Now, it would be interesting to see whether Google goes for its love for iPad apps or its native Android tablet computers. Till then, you can enjoy using and exploring the new  features of optimized Gmail, YouTube and Maps on your iPad.
