Facebook Privacy -Before and Now

Posted by : on May 29, 2010 – 8:53 amOne Comment

Do you know that there are more than 50 settings and 170 options to manage your privacy settings on Facebook. Now, when they realized that how tough it is for dumb person like me, top folks on facebook are considering cutting down the numbers of options to simplify one of the most complex things in world (atleast for me).

Here is what they are going to do with their new privacy system. I compared it from what it was before and now.

Before there was 50 settings to make all your information private

Now there are less than 15 settings to do the same

……

Before, there were 18 different settings to control what you share with your network.

Now they introduce presets to cover all those 18 settings in one single control, which reduced to only 2 clicks to control everything which had more than 100 options.

……

Before there were 7 settings in one single page

Now they have 10 settings for 3 separate pages

……

Before there were 13 separate pages in privacy settings

Now they have only 8 separate pages.

……

Facebook’s Ana Yang Muller explained it in more detailed way but expect all these changes start functioning in a week time for all facebook user accounts.

Do you have things to add or to say here? I am still waiting to see these options working in my Privacy Settings.
