Microsoft Revamped Hotmail to Outnumber Gmail

Posted by : on May 18, 2010 – 11:36 pmNo Comment

Popularity and convenience to use gmail makes it the very first choice of users around the globe. Microsoft has redesigned its mail service Hotmail with an aim to win over Gmail.

Features providing an edge to hotmail are that Gmail provides an expanding storage while hotmail is offering unlimited storage, instead of Gmail’s 25 MB limit of large attachments in hotmail attachments up to 50 MB with a collective size of 10 GB can be sent.

According to Dick Craddock, group program manager for what’s now called Windows Live Hotmail – “You now have a convenient and concise summary of the most important mail in your inbox – new email from friends and contacts, social network updates, shipping notices, appointments, and birthday reminders – along with a conveniently consolidated, privacy-protected stream of photos and updates from your closest friends on Facebook, Flickr, LinkedIn, Twitter, and over 70 other websites,”

Further he adds “You can attach an office document to an email and have it stored on SkyDrive,” “Hotmail then sends the document via SkyDrive, so that you – and the people you send it to – can access it from anywhere regardless of whether they use a PC or Mac, have Office installed, use Hotmail or don’t, or have smaller attachment limitations than the 10GB per message allowed by Hotmail.”

One more new feature will be there known as Sweep which will delete messages and automatically do the same to future messages from the same sender. Messages can be filtered by – sender Facebook, for example or by conversation.

Newsletters and other useless stuff will not be delivered to inbox and will stay out in future also.

With its advanced anti spam features like Perimeter Technology,  Spam Filters and User Control it can be predicted “it may really achieve the objective of developers.”
