The First WordPress 3.0 Bug
The most awaited WordPress 3.0 is on roll now. It has been named as “Thelonious” and was launched yesterday with many exciting features. One of the most useful features was integration of MU and WordPress which lets you run Multiple WordPress blogs from a single installation. Many more features have been introduced. To know more about these cool and simply awesome features check out these posts:
Soon after the launch of WordPress 3.0 many users have upgraded their blogs. One of the reasons being the excitation to try out new features. One of my friends was also quite excited about upgrading his existing version to 3.0 and asked me to deal with it.
To be on the safer side I made a backup of the data on his blog and database and upgraded to “Thelonious”. Then I thought of going through all the features and also check if the previous settings were intact.
The blog runs with Thesis Theme from DIYThemes. To my surprise, I discovered the first bug when I clicked “Custom File Editor” in “Thesis Options”.
It comes with this message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function use_codepress() in C:\Domains\xyzdomain.com\httpdocs\wp-content\themes\thesis_17\lib\admin\admin.php on line 42
I guess that the changes in the code also included the change of the function name and have ultimately resulted to this error. Now we will have to wait until either WordPress fixes it up or Thesis comes up with an Upgrade for their existing Version 1.7, fixing this bug.
Although the upgrade option is available for all the users. I personally think that one should wait for another version like 3.01 or 3.1 which comes up with such fixes to such common bugs.
