Facebook and Zynga – Friends Again

by zazo on May 19, 2010

Few days before, I wrote a story on What if Zynga leaves Facebook. Though I was not that sure to predict the outcome of the split between these two Silicon Valley giants but somewhere I was sure that it would be not vigorous for both Facebook and Zynga.

Now, the report comes from latimes blog that facebook and Zynga settled their issues for next 5 years. Very hopefully Zynga is not leaving facebook at the moment.

That’s the only good news for facebook this month after so much hu-ha on facebook privacy, bugs and changing of some popular features which sparked the world wide anger by Facebook users.

Zynga , the creator of gaming application like Mafia Wars, FarmVille and Poker has more than 50 million facebook users. The dispute came under light when facebook decided to start using Facebook Credits, a virtual currency used by all developers on its platform.

Zynga’s chief executive Marc Pincus and Facebook’s chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg said Zynga is “testing Facebook Credits in select games and will expand to more titles over the coming months.

Facebook Credits are a virtual currency you can use to buy gifts, and virtual goods in many games and applications on the Facebook platform. By applying this rule to the all application developer facebook wanted to cut their sale.

Still, it is unclear that how they will deal with each other technically, what Zynga will get out of each sale and how much share facebook will keep in this new deal but from the user point of view, it is good to see Zynga remains in facebook till we don’t get hooked to something better than mafia wars.

But, what about ZyngaLive and other domains Zynga had registered in preparation to build his own social network?
