YES, u are right, many people join communities unnecessarily, they join 100s of such communities which they never visit in their lifetime, and many people just join because of their friends’ requests to join their community , and they start these games, just to keep the community active, which is nothing but a wastage of time which you can get in every 2nd community …only real dedicated communities stay free from these viruses …

I know that more of the people on orkut just join communities to be a part of it in the member’s stats just because they like that community by name and topic but they really don’t care or want to be a part of the discussions.
May be, on orkut we have maximum number of people either don’t know what to talk or they have something more interesting to do. I never thought that community like physics is not so active the way it looks but I must admit that even the 100 of physics community members are active but they are generating some really interesting resource. One is you.

the same thing is with mostly every community …
i will give the example of physics community, although it has more than 90,000 members , but hardly 200 members are active and regular …
only 200 that too no more than 150 …
there was a review of physics community in this site, and was mentioned everyone share common interest , i say NO , thats nothing than a show off or just for namesake, reality is that there are only few hundred members who have real interest or who visit community …
most others are just spammers and idiots ,,,
but the community is free from all this crap games and things ,,,
i personally think the games and these craps are in communities based on lame topics or subjects or which have a poor moderation or lack of interest of members of the community …
but yes a good matter touched zazo …
