Very soon you will be able to enjoy all your favorite Youtube videos on your 48” TV, relaxing on your couch and with theatrical surround sound experience of your home theater system. Google in technical collaboration with Sony and Logitech is working to put Google TV inside of televisions, Blu-ray players and companion boxes. It is expected to be on sale by the coming autumn season.
With Google chrome built in, Google TV promises its customers million channels from across the globe via internet. It will be very easy to shift from television to web and vice a versa.
We all love to get more than what we paid for. Google TV will also work as photo slideshow viewer, a gaming console, a music player and much more.
No need to remember the channel number of your favorite TV show. Just type the name of your daily soap and watch it.
Same can be done with the movies, you remember that titanic is being broadcast this weekend but forgot the channel don’t worry just type “titanic” and land directly on the movie.
To make it easy to use all input devices for Google TV will have QWERTY keyboards, but users will often navigate using a directional pad. Like remote controls, these limit the navigation model to up, down, left, right, and center.
As Google TV is going to be built on open platforms like Android and Google Chrome, these features are just a fraction of what Google TV can do.
In the announcement today, Google challenged web developers to start coming up with the next great web and Android apps designed specifically for the TV experience. Developers can start optimizing their websites for Google TV from today onwards. Soon after the launch, Google is going to release the Google TV SDK and web APIs for TV, so that developers can build even richer applications and distribute them through Android Market. It seems Google is looking forward to see all of the ways in which developers can use this platform.
