The domain is registered through Internet service provider TE Data, Vodafone Data and Link Registrar.

Egypt Communication Minister Tarek Kamel said that “Introducing Arabic Domain Name is The Milestone in Internet History” Yes, it is a milestone. It is an innovative and most revolutionizing step to connect people of world to the world of internet regardless of their language other than English. He added “Now we can really say, Internet will speak Arabic”

According to Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) chief executive Rod Beckstrom, six countries have applied for top-level domains in three languages since the Internet coordinator opened up the use of non Latin scripts yesterday.

Indian blog WATBlog.com had posted something similar story related to India, that we are soon going to see domain names in our regional languages and if it happens then India will be the first country to do so. But Egypt won the race this time after they registered their first regional language domain.

I feel like the whole world is crunching by the power of internet. Domains which we never thought to see beyond .com has now tens of extensions(.net, .org, .tv, .asia, .uk, .us etc) .

The only left was domains in other languages now that are also a reality.
