Life is something lifelong. We can’t expect to get an apple the very day we plant the seed. We have to wait keep our self calm and discharge few duties regularly like watering and fertilizing the plant. We have to have patience. Then after a period of three or three and half years only we can enjoy delicious and tasty apples. Similar is the story of Jonathan Geller popularly known as Boy Genius. And last weeks events establish him as a genius.

His three and half year old blog was sold for millions of dollars to Mail.com Media Corp. (MMC) (source here)

Geller at the tender age of 16 started developing connections in the mobile phone industry. His liaisons were strong enough to provide him information, photographs and inside stuff about some cool and hot phones a year ago before their launch. To build an online reputation Geller updated this information on online forums and gained name under the alias of Boy Genius.

His growing fame on forums attracted Ryan Block who was then one of the editors on Engadget the AOL’s blog about consumer electronics. He realized that if Boy Genius had to make reputation he needs exposure to bigger audience and Engadget could be a platform which could be beneficial for both.

After discussing his idea with Peter Rojas co-founder of Engadget, Bloc offered job to Boy Genius. Anyone running a blog is aware of the fact that in order to build credibility and to add authenticity to your blog identity of the writer should be well established. In this case Geller didn’t want to reveal his identity. Bloc had to modify many policies of the site. Geller worked under this alias until the last Monday when the deal was finalized. Till then none of his co-workers knew who the Boy Genius really is.

In October 2006 Boy genius started writing a column on Engadget with the separate entity Boy Genius Report. His efforts and originality of content brought him 1.5 million readers per month. The most amusing and interesting fact is that no one knew who was behind the mask of Boy Genius before this week or we can say before this deal

There were few attempts to unmask him like an incident of a Palm worker who was obsessive with the thought of revealing Geller’s identity. This worker tried many tactics. He used to send ominous notes about the blogger’s family and his whereabouts to his inbox in a fruitless attempt to scare him into silence.

In his childhood days Geller was inspired by a music executive named Justin Smith, who used this alias of Boy Genius, and inspiration made him adopt this alias for him but one thing is for sure that Geller made more bucks then his Idol.

Geller quotes that in initial days when he started sharing leaks of Big Brands it was nothing less then a huge blow to their reputation. But these days 70% of leaks are intentional or can be said part of promotional/marketing strategy. It is like something unlawful has been made legitimate. Things change over time. Some changes make fortunes for some people.

After the acquisition Boy Genius Report will be renamed BGR.com, will expand into a number of new areas beyond mobile phones and is looking to hire. Geller will continue to oversee editorial and business operations with the title editor in chief.

We wish Boy Genius Good Luck and Loads of Readers and Dollars.

So, you’ve decided to change your personal blog into a professional blog. Wait a second…before moving further, please let me take this out of your mind that professional blogs are not only “blog about blogging” or “how to earn money from blog” etc. From professional I mean better looking, well arranged, clean and resourceful blog, it could also be a mixture of your random stories and niche articles too.

To make this easy to understand let’s take an example. If you have a personal blog where you often write random posts like what interesting happened today with you, how was your experience eating in that famous restaurant last week or if you love sharing some photographs taken by you. In the meantime you also share stories concerned with your passion for motor bikes, like writing your riding experience, latest breaking news from motor bike industry, bike reviews etc. Motor Biking can be your niche.

Your personal blog is an online diary of yours where you allow anyone who is either interested in your random stories or loves to read about your biking experience and share their thoughts. I am sure that those who are interested in your random stories are mostly your real life friends or some very close online friends but not any professionals who find your random stories interesting for them (except you have a blog like Dooce). But writing articles about your passion for motor bikes you, may be unknowingly but attracting a group of amateur or professional bikers or bike enthusiasts who loves to read about your stories on motor bikes.

My point here is that why don’t you attract more bike enthusiast to turn up to your blog for latest biking news, updates, trends, bike models, bike reviews or your personal tips and tricks about bike riding or maintenance. It is the way your blog will become a professional blog related to motor biking from a personal blog.

While posting about bikes you can still keep on writing your random stories, may be your new biking audience may like your random stories too.

So, if you want to turn your online diary into your professional notepad then from my modest knowledge on blogging and some fair knowledge on blog reviewing, I found some helpful resources for you to make your blog turn professional to personal.

Now, lets concentrate on 3 core elements of your blog which are most essential than any other area to work upon. These core elements are Blog Content – Your blog articles and posts, Blog Promotion- Your marketing, promotional strategies & ideas and Blog Navigation- How easy and attractive your blog navigation structure is.

Lastly, whatever your blog platform is, either WordPress, Blogger or Typepad, free hosted or self hosted. It doesn’t matter much. The only thing matter is how much your content is resourceful, authentic and unique to provide value to a particular group of audience.

20 Top Blog Content Tips

Say you love to blog on technology but are struggling with time and content idea because you have school every day and are not able to get rid of project works and studies which are hanging heavy over your head. Getting spare time to update your blog appears impossible. Still, somehow you manage to write a blog post twice a week before going to bed. But when do you write these articles? When do you think up the subject you are to write on? And when and how will you publicize your blog post? You need more time on Facebook and Twitter to do that and this sure is gonna eat up into your precious study time which is, of course, more important than blogging. This must be making you sometimes just hate school if it does not allow you to update your blog for weeks!

Hey, here’s an idea! Why not use your school to generate both content and traffic for your blog! But make sure you do everything in a manner which ensures that your studies is first priority and blogging last, because education will help you become a successful blogger but blogging might not help you become a good student!

……….

How to Get Blog Content Idea?

School Library

How long has it been since you last visited your school library? If you are a blogger then it does not matter whether you love to write… you should be more a reading enthusiast than a writing one. Read up all those old, new or any book you can lay your hands on. It does not matter if you love Shakespeare and you blog about iphone and android technology. Even Shakespeare’s philosophies can help you with an idea of a hot blog post about technology.

Like-minded Friends

Of the many friends you interact with each day, I am sure that at least one out of 10 shares your interest in technology. Why not increase this ratio? Make more like-minded friends and improve your knowledge on latest tech updates, news and information. You can find some really good resources to make a blog post.

Expand Your Network

Don’t only make friends with those who like what you like. Make friends with everyone you can. Your classmates come first because you can interact with them more often. Then come your seniors because they are more mature than you. Then, your juniors because you can make them see your points. And lastly, make good standing with your teachers… try to talk regularly with a teacher whom you think is best to give you advice on technology and science. It could be your physics teacher or your computer science teacher. Mention their names while writing a blog post and give them credit for your work and show them your work.

……….

How to Generate Blog Traffic?

By Word of Mouth

Talk about your blog everyday to more and more people but don’t make it sound boring. Tell how it would be useful for them to read your blog post, share how you do that. And help others. Be equipped with a pen and paper to write your blog URL whenever someone asks to share.

Share Email ids

Share your email ids and take others’. Mail them at least once a week, create good relations and ask your friends to give feedback and comments on your articles.

SMS

We didn’t have mobile phones 20 years back, but now most school goers above 13 years have it. Though, most schools don’t allow phones you can still note down the numbers of your friends to contact them later. Update your friends through text messages sharing the URL of your new blog post. Inform them about the topic you wrote, all by way of SMS texts. This is another way of making blog subscribers, via sms texts. Cool ha?

……….

How to Write a Blog Post in School?

What if you get a stunning blog post idea while in school? Carry a diary or a rough book with you all the time or simply use a sheet of paper. If you have a sudden brainwave, write down a heading and put down your idea in points. Write every point you can and when you get home, copy it on a word file and expand the points into an article. Once, your main points and title of a blog post are ready, you just need to compile it. It works well for me.

Free Periods

If you have nothing meaningful to do except chatting or playing a sport you don’t like, why don’t you do something which you like? Write, write and write. That’s the one best way to utilize those free periods, thanks to that teacher who didn’t turn up today.

……….

How to Cope with Exams and Weekly Tests?

Give Up Blogging For Your Own Good

There is no exception when studies are involved. Write a post that you won’t be able to update your blog for some time so that your readers are aware of your unavailability. I am reiterating the fact that blogs are not more important than studies. You can blog whole of your life but you cannot miss out on this golden period for studies. If you are good in any particular subject then who knows, tomorrow you could be best chemistry blogger or best business management blogger. Schools are to sharpen your mind and develop your skills. Blogs are to show how much you can do it. So if blogging is interfering with your studies, give it up.

How do you manage your blog in between school work? If you have any different, sparkling and mind-blowing idea, please share with us.

She made me love chocolates and feel its richness, aroma and taste in every bite I take. Today I am a portentous chocoholic man with a growing belly…ah! I don’t mind getting over weight.

Chocolates are symbol of love and affection. Valentine’s Day is coming soon so I am here dedicating this post exclusively to those who are responsible of making my wife and me chocoholics and like both of us many thousands of people too who can do any crazy thing for chocolates. I thank to all those chocolate master bloggers for those times they spend biting their favorite bars and wrote their experiences for us. This post is a review of world’s 10 best chocolate blogs and bloggers.

Most of the blogs are well known in their blogosphere but if you are reading about it for first time then don’t miss to follow them. They are simply awesome and best chocolate reviewers of the world. I bet!

So, here it goes…

1. Chocolatemission.net serves you the best review of every possible chocolate brands, types and Chocolates you wish to find in any country or region. With more than 1000 articles by the author Jim who hails from England, his blog is more his passion than profession. If you have interest in finding any dark, white, caramel, cashew, apple, ginger, hazelnut flavored chocolates or if you are looking for different brands like Ritter sports, Maryland, Lotte, Cadbury, Nestle, Harry David and hundreds of other world famous brands and types then chocolatemission.net solves your purpose and gratifies your zeal for chocolates. Also check which chocolate bars celebrities loves to eat? And how Jim has listed his top chocolates in leader board according to its taste, presentation, aroma, sustenance and texture. It is an awesome blog for any hardcore chocoholic.

……….

2. ChocaBlog.com is definitely going to seize you in their mouth watering pictures of chocolates and remarkable writing style; they review world’s best chocolates and at the same time give opportunity to their readers to talk and discuss on their favorite chocolates in chocablog’s dedicated forum. Not just chocolate reviews but it also has many wonderful chocolate recipes, interesting short interviews of chocoholic celebrities in their CHOCOPHILE section and many other mesmerizing chocolate stories. Hold your breath and take a dip into Swedish Milk Chocolate Face Off! Or have a look at smooth and creamy galaxy minstrels. ChocaBlog won’t let you go just simply. A perfect chocolate blog!

……….

3. TheChocolateReview.net gives you some very straight reviews of chocolates by the author Tim. Tim doesn’t believe in rating system, he writes what he feels and how the chocolate tastes to him and leave the rest on the readers to decide. He is lucky to receive many free chocolates from the manufacturers directly but the blog is not so regularly updated. Otherwise, I really like to read about some truly cool chocolates Tim had tasted and reviewed. For instance, the review of Chocri Dark Chocolates and difference between chocri and chocomize was actually an interesting read. All over it is a simple but good blog for chocoholics.

……….

4. Gigi-Reviews.blogspot.com writes about any eatables, just anything from beef to cakes, biscuits to candies. But why I listed this blog with other chocolate blogs? Actually, while reviewing this blog I noticed that there are 400 labels/tags of several eatables in which a tag “chocolate” has been mentioned nearly 300 times which is more than any other tag/topic. Obviously the author has softer corner for chocolates. It was an amazing experience while reading about some of the hottest chocolates available in this world. Gigi describe everything perfectly and professionally. Every post is beautifully presented along with mind blowing high resolution pictures of chocolates. I can’t resist myself by staring at Ritter Sport’s Himbeer Joghurt and Nestlé’s Lion Bar which is still making me feel jealous of Gigi’s chocoluck.

……….

5. 8chocolate.com is a year old blog with not more than 100 posts. But that’s not the quantity of content which can make your blog successful but it’s because of the quality of content you are publishing. 8chocolate is a quality blog with well written chocolate reviews, chocolate recipes and a series of interviews with some interesting professionals in chocolate making industry. A recipe “Chocolate covered strawberries” written by 8chocolate’s author is going to get a place in latest iphone applications. This Vancouver based chocolate blog has many decent chocolate reviews to attract you. Like Bovetti Chocolate Bar from France and Jer’s Handmade chocolate review to name few.

……….

6. ChocolateReviews.co.uk is bit different than other chocolate blogs. The author of this blog is more interested in reviewing chocolates made by small chocolate makers, as he said “I’d love to help the smaller chocolate makers get more exposure. “There are some exceptional chocolatiers out there that just can’t afford to advertise in magazines or TV. But often these people make the best chocolate.” That’s true and such blog can be a real launch pad for new or small chocolate makers for sure. ChocolateReviews.co.uk is a clean chocolate blog; you can get introduced to many new brands of chocolates like Gaba Milk Chocolate Balls from Japan, Dark chocolate with Chillies from Wales and Michel Cluizel Noir Infini 99% dark chocolate. There are loads of chocolate reviews and also buying online options available with some posts. A good blog I say.

IeatIshootIpost Singapore, Singapore is one of the smallest south- East Asian countries but its cosmopolitan population, diverse culture and traditions made it distinctive in Asia. Talking about food in Singapore then there are mainly Chinese, Malay, Indian and Tamil cuisines. While searching for best Singaporean food blog I fortunately landed on Leslie Tay’s ieatishootipost.sg and on instant I loved it. Covering almost every eatery in Singapore, Leslie did a really appreciable work in illuminating the food side of this beautiful East Asian island state. Mutton dum biryani of Bismillah or roast duck of New Rong Ge Liang Hong Kong Roast, this blog has everything to make it a complete food blog. The fantastic photography, pleasant blog design, detailed articles and reviews with author’s ratings and food price adds ieatishootipost.sg in the category of some great food blogs in world. While reviewing this blog I came across a very interesting article on Singapore’s oldest hawker owner Madam Leong and her Nam Seng Wanton Mee, its delicious noodles with that secret sauce and Venison Hor Fun. All over I am really overwhelmed by the dedication of the author .Great Blog!

EatingOutInBombay Mumbai, India: India’s commercial capital and one of the most populous mega cities Mumbai is also a dream city for millions of Indians mainly because of bollywood. Well, most of the people staying in Mumbai are originally from different parts of India which makes the combination of East, West, North and South of India at one place. Definitely, Mumbai serves some very best Indian, continental, mughlai and south Indian delights. EatingOutIn Mumbai.blogspot.com is best blog to experience Mumbai foods, best restaurants, food joints and food events. Gauarv Jain, author of EaitingOutInMumbai has successfully spent more than $7000USD on food, probably since he started writing on this blog. I adore author’s writing skills, ways of reviewing and expressing himself in a really pleasant manner. Gaurav don’t praise every place he visits although his open and straight reviews definitely saves hard earned bucks of many foodies. I love reading “Places I will not return to” and blog category of “expensive” eat outs in Mumbai. Reviews of restaurants like “Pure” at Taj Land’s end, Moshe and olive made me jealous of Gaurav’s lucky belly. Really tremendous yet simple looking blog, eatingoutinbombay is “must follow” blog if you are visiting Mumbai first time and you believe that best food comes first than anything else in life.
