Dear Mark Zuckerberg, Please Read This

Dear Mark Zuckerberg,

Muslims all over the world are not terrorists nor they support any Muslim terrorists but there are group of people who always intend to hurt Muslim’s emotions and belief.

One such example of online hatred toward Muslims and Islam is a facebook group who dare to make fun of Holy Prophet by trying to imitating their physical appearance which is not allowed in Islam.

Facebook Group of 10,000 users who hate Muslims has joined this group, just to hurt Muslims all over the world.

This act can very possibly gives self proclaimed jehadis a fair reason to react, most probably another attack on innocent civilians who have nothing to do with anything like this.

Prophet Mohammad was the flag bearer of Humanity, Peace and Spirituality. He was the only one who set an example of being a great saint, king, warrior, entrepreneur and a great man who always respected other religions, people and their faith.

You need to read authentic books to see what he was and what he left for the world.

Unfortunately, few of Prophet’s followers misinterpreted his teachings and few of anti-Islamic people helped these so called Islamic extremists to grow their evil power to terrorize the world.

Terrorism was always strictly condemned by Islam and in any case it cannot be justified.

I request you to shut down such groups to avoid any negative reaction online or offline. Social networking is a bridge to connect people of the world despite of their caste, race or religion. We all need peace in the world and to get that we cannot use hatred as a weapon.

I don’t need to request your support. I request you to speak the truth. Right is always Right and Wrong is always Wrong.

Facebook:Events Made Easier For You?

Facebook has just announced a few changes to its existing “Events” system which lets you create events and invite/inform your friends about the event. The event sharing system is quite useful as it makes your task easier to get connected with your friends. You might find a number of changes in the existing events system, like, the old “Event Title” has been replaced with a keyword which looks more focused to the event, “What are you planning?”. Facebook Blog reads that the event has been made faster and easier but many of you would surely miss the old features of creating a secure, private event. Now you have only two options, event could either be public or private. Not only this, you can’t even control the photos, posts and messages by others. All the invited members would be able to share photos and messages. This looks like taking back something really important. Well, lets check out the new system and hope that the old useful features would be available soon. Facebook must keep in mind that “Everything old is not to be Rejected and Everything new is not worth being Accepted”

The new improved “Events” system lets you create an event directly from your home page. You simply need to type in your event into the “What are you planning?” field on the right-hand column of your home page. Now, you only need to add time and place to the form that opens up in front of you and you are all set to share your plans with your friends.

You can now create an event directly from the “Events” box on your home page with one step. Just start typing your event into the “What are you planning?” field on the right-hand column of your home page. A form will open. Add a time and place, and you’ll be ready to share your plans with your friends.

You can also follow the traditional method of creating events on Facebook. Simply click on the “Events” link on the left and then click the “+Create an Event” button and fill out each field step by step. The detailed creation form proves to be useful while creating more formal events.

This is the announcement at the official Facebook Blog. But the question is how many of you have this feature enabled on your Facebook Account? Not many users have yet been able to get a fresh start with the simplified Events system. Just wait for the changes to take place. You need not worry about the events which you have already created as they would remain the same. This feature will surely reduce the efforts of creating the events on Facebook.

Google Transliteration Update: A review

By the end of last year Google launched Google Transliteration to help people writing in languages which are not supported by the computer keyboards. As we know that computer keyboards only input characters of Roman script, this narrowed the users of different scripts to write on Internet. Google Transliteration helped in overcoming this barrier. This tool enabled people writing in Arabic, Bengali, Greek, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Sanskrit, Serbian, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu languages. They were able to write their message phonetically and transliteration converted it into the desired script. A revolutionary breakthrough it has been.

Now there have been additions of Amharic, Tigrinya, Hebrew, Oriya and Sinhalese in the above mentioned set of languages. These languages are spoken in North Central Ethiopia, Eriteria, by the Jews, people of Orissa provinces in India and Sri Lanka respectively. I feel this is a sign of Internet or Google becoming more Global.

For the offline use Google gave the world IME (Input Method Editor) which can be downloaded free of cost. IME is also added with 5 more new languages Amharic, Russian, Sanskrit(Ancient Indian language), Serbian and Tigrinya. This is not all IME will now onwards also include canonical schemes, macros and support for Windows 64-bit. To learn more about them you can visit Google Transliteration IME help page.

Well the party is not over yet. Transliteration and IME were designed to help people write in native language with the use of their Roman Script Keyboards. But it didn’t help in going backwards. We mean how can one read a webpage written in some language other then English? One of the answers could be to take help of a friend who knows that language. But where you may find the person who is well versed with Tamil in a place like Tanzania or Russia? Need not to telephone your friends to find such person Google has launched Script Converter tool. This will convert the entire web page, or some text in it to the English from the 17 languages: Bengali, English, Greek, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Sanskrit, Serbian, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

Focus on regional languages like Oriya and Tigrinya points on two things

Internet gaining popularity in deeper areas we can also say people are becoming IT literate in every part of world to use this boon for their welfare and also for people around them.
If you want to become big you have to worry about everything large and SMALL. Giant like google may have realized that these interior areas of various nations are golden opportunity. If someone else comes with a tool covering these languages its monopoly will be lost along with its reputation.

Orkut’s New Look – That’s Right Move On Right Time (developing story)

OrkutPlus.com posted “Rumor- Is Orkut Working on New Interface” few days before….No Its not a rumor! WooHoo!! It true, Orkut’s official blog announced it and I am among the few lucky people on orkut who got official invitation to check out the new orkut interface which is improved, fast, classy and added with more interesting features than before. I was missing this from long and finally they (orkut developers) did it!

Let’s start a review of this new and fresh look of orkut.com

First thing to notice is that recent visitor’s thumbnail photos instead of their names, the other best thing is latest notification or status like facebook which you can post on your profile homepage and expect comments from your friends. The other feature is changing the color of your profile with 5 different color options.

Going down you will notice orkut friend suggests, hey where are your three profiles? Professional, Personal and general? General profile is on home page but if you are searching for the other two than just see the corner of the profile bar and click more, there you will get your additional profile information, testimonials, fans etc . Then comes Birthday and at last updates of your friends and your notifications.

Now on the right side of your profile where you can see your friends, all friends in one just by scrolling that block, same with the communities.

In Addition to all this, if you are a community owner/moderator and you have some 10-20 members waiting to approve than you now don’t need to approve or reject them one by one, you will get notice in your homepage and just approve all members or reject them easily and fast.

In communities, I didn’t notice any big change, forums and threads look same.

The change was always needed and highly expected by orkut users, I welcome this great change and I hope that when this new version will be announced publicly every orkut user will be happy. After all, this is the biggest upgraded version of orkut since its launch in 2004.

Recognition From Orkut – Thanksgiving

I still remember those early days of flockpost.com when some people were skeptic about its future, may be because it was something which was never done before, but I did it. I did it because I felt the need of doing it. OrkutHeroes now became pulse of orkut.com, that’s unbelievably true.

If you believe that internet is the biggest revolution in the era of Information and Technology than you would also believe this fact that social networking is a revolution of this internet era. OrkutHeroes.com is a smallest attempt of bringing out those real people and groups who are actually responsible for this revolution.

After nearly 2 years of continuously featuring best online communities and some really great people we have discovered online, finally orkut.com accepted flockpost.com as his friend, after seeing a review of orkutheroes blog on orkut’s official blog I was not at all shocked but I never expected it. I am overjoyed and thankful to orkut’s staff for this recognition.

In Addition to this, I would also like to clear our regular readers that OrkutHeroes.com is not promoting any particular website, intentionally. We are promoting safe and useful social networking. This recognition is not our destination but it’s just a beautiful part of orkutheroes journey. There are still more things to come up in near future

Indian Women Speaks! on Valentine’s Day.

We are social beings and live in a society where we come across so many social values which we have to respect and follow to maintain a discipline and dignity in the society. And we all know that it doubles the accountability if you are a woman, and then if you are an Indian Woman, as Indian women are expected highly to keep up the social values, follow the traditions, culture and strictly trail the norms laid by the society for them since ages.

We heard about the recent Mangalore incident where woman were given bashing and were brutally given a complete inhuman treatment. We talk about the dignity and moral values, but where does an activity like man beating woman in public comes under the limit of decorum?

Today is Valentines Day, but instead of spreading love all around and celebrating the festival of love, people and specially woman are so much insecure and are living with a fear in our country. There came up organizations which raised their voice against such shameless and merciless actions. But we wanted to know, what a woman sitting in her home, office, or in a coffee shop with a friend is going through and what she thinks about this. What are her message towards all those people and what does she wants?

Orkutheroes tries to find out and take opinion from women on social networking site of Orkut and got a warm response from many.

Few of those views are added here to clear the picture of thinking and mental status of an Indian woman on this special day of celebrating love, known as Valentines Day!

We asked each one of them two question, which were:

Do you think its right to label the Valentine’s Day celebration as disgraceful and its celebration is against the Indian culture and that should be stopped?

What message do you have to give this year to all those who are opposing it?

I feel that culture is nothing but a way of living, which is supposed to be an individual’s choice. Valentine’s Day is a day of celebrating love (not only among the couples, but it could be any form of love). It is absurd to oppose any body’s way of living & especially when it is about celebrating the most beautiful feeling on earth. The lovers should just keep one thing in mind that, a level of decency should always be maintained.

I really don’t have a message for anybody who opposes Valentine’s day, as I feel everyone has got a point of view over a thing & nobody can change it unless the people understand it themselves & for that they need to be educated about the REAL & SERIOUS ISSUES prevailing in our country which need to be addressed like, population control, lack of education, Unemployment, atrocities on women etc. Rather than stopping people from expressing their love, which they would do any how, such people should be told to put their energies towards construction of a good society by trying to remove the issues mentioned above.

Try googling the term Indian culture, after ten pages of reading you will realize that it’s impossible to define it. There is so much contradiction here, kamasutra’, Sati, Indra Nooyi , Sarika shah, Kalpana Chawla everything can happen in India. Valentine’s Day, friendship day, Halloween according to me is nothing but events /days which we have adopted from the west. We are giving more importance to it and helping it become a national event. It has already achieved great momentum. Thanks to Ram Sene youngsters, going out of their way to make this Valentine’s Day a grand success. Honestly, I have no issues with any event or any day as long as it does not affect the mental peace of anyone and does not hinder the progress of this country.

There are bigger issues in hand for instance the little Dalit girl whose ponytails were yanked where was Ram Sene, then? What about the countless men who molest women everyday on buses, trains and offices? Ram sene and company should be posted there every day. How often do these so called protectors of Indian culture have protected the lady next door when she is slapped by her husband? Here is my message to you any land which has disrespected women has never progressed, history will tell you.

Well, as I believe that love don’t want any special day to say some thing to the person. But now there is one tendency or you can say a thinking among youngsters that in this special day we can say our heart line to that special person. Somewhere person becomes more courageous to say something and I feel that he/she should say the feeling to their loved ones in spite of not saying. But the youngsters, who are crossing the limits, should get punished. Because crossing of limit of anything is bad. But, one has the right to say the feeling in a very descent way.

As a liberal woman and a sensible human being, I find that all the hoopla about Valentine’s Day harming our culture laughable. A culture gets richer and deeper by moving with the times and being open to new customs. Just as it’s wrong to force people to follow something they don’t care for…it’s wrong to obstruct people from celebrating something they care about.
And it’s not as if expression of love was not a part of our culture. We have celebrated the love of Radha and Krishna, Meera’s longing for Krishna, Seetha’s devotion to Rama and the love and understanding of Shiva and Parvathi. Now, its time to celebrate the love of the common man.

No I do not think so, this day means expressing love and it can be related to your family including your husband and father and every member of your family. I wish Valentines Day to my sister, my brother and my friends. It should not be stopped. We should try to improve the image of this day in India that it’s not only boyfriend and girlfriend thing…love involves every one….family to boyfriend, so stop promoting it as boyfriend and girlfriend day.

I don’t have much knowledge about Indian culture. I think each one of us grow with different values and point of view…every body posses a different opinion…for me it is nothing wrong….I think it should not be stopped. Those who don’t like to celebrate it, can sit at there home and let other people enjoy because opposing by or through rallies or in any other way will not help if they want to prove their point of view right. There are many other ways other than violence.

Please don’t try to impose what you feel on people. If you think you’re right, try to make people understand and that can’t be done through unwanted banning of a universally celebrated day.
